The Mustangs left Moody Coliseum with a season-opening win against Jacksonville State. Here are some takeaways from the win.

SMU men's basketball coach Tim Jankovich kept Tuesday night's post-game interview mostly positive. He mentioned some tweaks to come after the team's 74-65 win over Jacksonville State, but he didn't dwell on negatives.

For a team that only played eight players on Tuesday -- whether that was because of SMU still waiting on the word of eligibility from the NCAA for transfer guards Kendric Davis and Darius McNeill, or because of minor injuries from other players -- SMU can feel pretty good about what it did at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs had an 18-point lead at one time, and it played a full 40 minutes without a true point guard.
