SMU Dominant in ACC Opener: 42-16 Win over Florida State

SMU dominated in their ACC opener at home with a commanding 42-16 win over Florida State. The Mustangs offense exploded for 467 yards, with Brashard Smith continuing his stellar play, scoring on a 13-yard run to get the Mustangs on the board.

Kevin Jennings connected with Jordan Hudson for a 42-yard touchdown to put SMU up 14-7 in the second quarter. Jennings then found RJ Maryland for an 11-yard score in the third quarter, extending the lead to 28-9.

Early in the fourth, SMU capped off an 11-play drive with Roderick Daniels Jr. punching it in from 2 yards out, making it 35-16.

The Mustangs sealed the win with a dramatic 82-yard interception return for a touchdown by linebacker Kobe Wilson, who stepped in front of a DJ Uiagalelei pass. SMU's defense was relentless, holding Florida State to 297 total yards and limiting them to just 75 rushing yards.

Kevin Jennings shined, going 16-of-23 for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns. Brashard Smith led the rushing attack with 129 yards and a touchdown, while Daniels Jr. added 53 yards and a score to compliment Smith in the running game..

With the win, SMU moves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in ACC play, securing their first-ever ACC conference win on The Hilltop.
