Texada narrows it down to six!
The recruiting process of Frisco Centennial cornerback Ranthony Texada has never had a dull moment. With roughly 20 offers from schools around the country, Texada has been doing extensive research on finding out which school is best for him. Most recently, his family went on a trip this past Thursday through Sunday to Colorado.
"The reason we came to Colorado was because I wanted to visit some of the schools that had offered me," said Texada, from his hotel room in Colorado on Sunday evening. "It was a good chance to see them."

During the last four days, the Texada family were on the campuses of Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming. At the conclusion of the trip, the soon-to-be senior sat down with both of his parents and had a serious conversation.
"It was good to see some of the schools that had offered so that I could narrow my list down. My parents and I just talked about it and we decided to narrow it down to six schools - SMU, TCU, Baylor, Western Kentucky, Iowa State and Illinois. That's what we came down with."
Texada broke down each program as to why they made his top six:
SMU: Coach Mason is a real cool guy. He came out to my practice during spring ball. He's been telling me that I'm one of the top corners that he has seen. I went out there and ran in the 4.3's and did really well on defense and one-on-one's. SMU has a good business school so that's something that I want to major in."�
TCU: "Coach Sharp has been the main coach recruiting me. They came out during spring practice and watched me. They wanted to see me at their camp, where I ran a 4.3. In one-on-ones, no one caught passes on me so coach Patterson offered me. I took an unofficial a few days later. I really liked that. They're renovating their stadium and moving to the Big 12. They're doing big things there. I think that would be a good fit."
Baylor: "They've been recruiting me a while. They have one of my teammates committed there, K.J. Smith, he committed there in January. They've been following up on me since January and they came and watched me practice. They think I can be a shutdown corner for them. I took an unofficial visit there the day after school got out. I really enjoyed the visit and their class is really stacking up. It would be a good place."
Western Kentucky: "They were my first offer, they offered me in February and that meant a lot to me and my parents. I told them that they're going to be a top school no matter what happens. I'm going to take a visit up there and see what they're about."
Iowa State: "I had been talking to them for a while. Coach Bray came to my school and they offered me over the over the phone last week after I went on an unofficial. They're doing a lot of big things and renovating a lot of things. They're getting all new indoor facilities with new training rooms and everything. Their program is on the rise and they had some big wins in the Big 12 this past season."
Illinois: "I've been talking to them for a real long time, since March, and we're building a good relationship. They're in the Big 10 so it's a good conference. We started talking the last week of school. Hopefully I can get a visit up there soon."
The 5-foot-9, 161-pound talent is relieved to have only six schools to now focus on. Texada said that he will be verbally committing to a program at some point during the month of July.
