Southlake Carroll C Commits to SMU!

New SMU commit Evan Brown committed to SMU yesterday. He talked a little bit about how the commitment went down.
"I called coach Suan and told him that after a lot of thinking with my parents and a lot of research, SMU was the right place for me," said Brown.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound center at Southlake Carroll had offers from Penn, Yale, Tulsa, and SMU. He detailed some of the factors that played into his decision to pick SMU.
"I mean the football program is great at SMU. It's close to home in Texas so my parents can come to every game. The education was one of the biggest factors because football is not going to last forever."
Brown told us how got the offer two Saturdays ago from coach offensive line and running backs coach Wes Suan.
"He (coach Suan) came and talked to me after practice. I called him on the phone a few days later and he told me about the school and that I had an offer and they were really interested in me."
"Coach Suan was at Southlake Carroll twice actually and saw a scrimmage and a practice. He said he sees me as an inside guy, center or guard."
The big interior lineman was up at SMU recently and talked about another future visit.
"I went up there this past Saturday but didn't get to tour the campus because they were having graduation. I'm going up there next Thursday to visit."
The newly committed Mustang plans on attending one of SMU's camps later next month. Brown played center last year for Southlake Carroll, but before that has played at tackle since the 7th grade. He filled us in on what he is looking forward to his senior season.
"I'm looking forward to being done with the recruiting process. Also, I'm interested in just seeing how we develop as a team and seeing how far we can go in the playoffs again. Two years ago we won state and last year we made it to the 4th round and lost to Desoto."
We will have more with the new Mustang commit down the road.
