Because of the storms and EF-3 tornado that hit the Dallas area, the SMU football team will honor those affected by wearing the popular alternative jerseys against Houston.

As Thursday's matchup against Houston quickly arrives, look for the SMU football team to wear the popular alternative uniforms that had all of the Dallas area buzzing at the beginning of the seson.

SMU athletic director Rick Hart on Monday announced that the Mustangs will play Thursday's game wearing the "Dallas" jerseys. While on the "It's Always Sonny on the Hilltop" radio show, Hart said SMU will represent the city and show support for the community members who were impacted by the storms that took place Sunday night.

Hart added that this was the idea of Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, who called SMU President R. Gerald Turner and made the suggestion.

"[Johnson] has been instrumental in galvanizing the partnership with the community," Hart said. "Following [Sunday's] storms, the mayor reached out to President Turner and said he would like for us to wear those Dallas uniforms in Houston as a show of support for anyone who was negatively impacted by those storms and as a symbol of the resilience of the citizens of our great cities.

"You'll see those babies on Thursday night."

The North Dallas area was affected by severe thunderstorms and an EF-3 tornado. Roughly 150,000 electric customers reportedly were without power on Monday.
