SMU offers three-star Luca Bruno

On Friday, SMU defensive line coach Bert Hill and the rest of the coaching staff welcomed California three-star defensive lineman Luca Bruno onto campus for an unofficial visit.
The Oak Park high school defensive end came to the Hilltop with a total of 10 offers but was still wanting one from SMU. The desire to obtain an offer from the Mustangs increased while on campus.

"I thought it was a good visit," said Bruno. "Coach Hill took me around the campus and showed me the whole school. He told me where he saw me fitting in the program and where I would play."
The coaching staff told Luca that he was projected to be a defensive tackle in their three front system, something that the California big man is more than alright with.
"That is where most people want me to play who run a three front. He said I could move from tackle to end which is what I play in high school. Both of those are a good fit for me."

Upon leaving Dallas, Bruno told PonyPride that he had not received an offer, which disappointed the 6-foot-4, 282-pound product since he had so much interest in the Mustangs.
Once arriving back in California, however, he had a chance to speak with Hill one more time.
"I talked to coach Hill and they offered me. He said that he liked my film and confirmed my size when I was on campus but he needed to show some more coaches my film to confirm the offer. He did that while I was on my way home and he said all the coaches liked me and think I can fit into their system."

Bruno was very excited to receive the offer from the Mustangs and said that they are at the top of his list right now.
"My top three would probably be Arizona, SMU, and then Washington State. In that order. Arizona, I just have a better relationship with the coaches there since they have been recruiting me longer but SMU can move up that list."

When thinking back to the visit, the soon-to-be senior has a definite favorite part of his time in Dallas.
"For me, it was just meeting coach Hill finally. We had talked on the phone a lot but getting to meet him in person made me realize that he was one of my favorite d-line coaches I have met so far."
