College football fans are hoping the 2020 season comes with no hiccups. With the current global conditions, there's no guarantee of what's to come.

But if the world gets college football this fall -- and that's the plan as of now -- SMU will have its regular players to keep an eye on. Players like quarterback Shane Buechele, wide receiver Reggie Roberson Jr. and linebacker Richard McBryde have done their part in earning household-name status pertaining to SMU fans.

Those fans already know those players' football jersey numbers. Buechele is No. 7, Roberson is No. 8. McBryde is No. 50. And there are a few other players with recognizable jerseys from last season.

But what about those newcomers? What about the brand new faces of the SMU football program?

There are a few athletes who will look to be immediate impact players during the 2020 season. Some of those athletes will arrive on campus in the summer for fall workouts, but there are some who already are a part of the spring football roster.
