Shane Buechele climbing the PFF starting QBs ladder
At the start of the season, PFF considered Shane Buechele a national top-50 quarterback. This week, SMU's signal-caller is on the outside of a top-10 ranking.
Earlier in the season, Shane Buechele told reporters that he and Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger still trade messages regularly. There are no hard feelings from Buechele toward Ehlinger, who ultimately won the starting job at Texas, which led to Buechele transferring to SMU.
After a big road win at South Florida, Buechele and the Mustangs improved to 5-0, and SMU was rewarded by being nationally ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time in 33 years. During a media session, Ehlinger took time to chime in on his quarterback comrade, who he had been following from the start.
"They better start building the statue of Shane Buechele," Ehlinger said. "I'm so happy for him."
