McNeil d-lineman adds nine offers

It was back in late April that SMU offered Round Rock McNeil defensive end Cameron Smith. Since then, the recruiting process for the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder has been through the roof.
"I've gotten nine offers since then," said Smith. "I've just been really blessed with everything that is going on. I'm pretty shocked right now."

During one day last week, Smith got three offers within a few hours. They've been coming in quickly and consistently and the Austin product now holds official offers from schools including Colorado State, Houston, Illinois, Rice, Tulane and Tulsa.
"I feel like not a lot of people have the opportunity that I have been given and I am going to cherish it."
Since the attention has been coming in so rapidly for Smith, he really hasn't had enough time to weigh all of his options thus far.
"I really don't have a favorite or college that I like better than any other yet. They're mostly pretty equal right now. I want to give everybody the same chance so no one is getting short changed."
There are at least two programs that Smith has his eyes on with hopes of obtaining offers. This Sunday, the 2011 prospect will be at Texas A&M's summer camp. Then in July, he'll be making the trip to TCU for their camp.
It was last month when Smith visited SMU, back when they were his only offer. Since then, the Mustangs have continued to stay in the picture.
"They've been keeping up with me and calling me to see what's up. He just wants me to stay informed and is pretty interested in me."
After SMU offered, it appeared that Smith could possibly make a decision at some point this summer. Now with nearly a dozen other names added to the list, the soon-to-be senior has decided to let this one play out.
"I'm really not sure [when I'm going to make my decision]. I'm not going to put a timetable on it. I'm not sure how I'm going to narrow it down. The most important thing that I'm going to look at is academics and then the athletic side of things as well."
Smith is thinking about majoring in business and then possibly looking at options of pursuing a law degree afterward. When it comes to the position he will play, most schools are looking at him as a defensive end while there are a few that have mentioned outside linebacker.
