Josh Williams commits to SMU

SMU picked up another commitment Sunday morning, this time from Rowlett kicker Josh Williams.
"I'm very excited, very happy with the decision," Williams told the HillTopics. "Going into my recruiting I knew my main priority would be academics and I think SMU is the perfect mix of great academics and a great football program. I'm excited to see what coach (Chad) Morris will do with the program. I think he's a great guy and a great coach."

Williams pulled the trigger while on his official visit to SMU.
"It was definitely a great experience. It was a lot of fun, absolute blast," Williams said. "We got to eat in downtown Dallas (on Saturday) and the whole city was lit up in SMU colors. That kind of support from that big of a city shows how much they care about what they have going on at SMU."
Another highlight of the visit was the SMU-Houston basketball game.
"It was awesome. Obviously SMU did very, very well and the arena is so cool. From the outside it looks like any other building but on the inside it's an arena. It's cool how they incorporated the architecture. I loved campus, I loved everything about it."
Coaches Keith Gunn and Morris were the main recruiters for Williams, who got a chance to meet some of his future teammates on the visit.
"They're all stand-up guys, all very nice. I'm looking forward to playing with them, they're all great kids."
Williams comes in as a decorated kicker, being named to the Semper Fi All-American team, first-team all-district team and first-team all-state academics team. He hopes to study either cyber security or finance at SMU.
"I already applied to SMU so I'm just going through that application process now. Hopefully I get in as soon as possible and get enrolled for summer school."
