The Iron Skillet is more than just a trophy; it symbolizes the intense rivalry between Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University. This annual contest is a clash of tradition, pride, and athletic prowess that has captivated fans for decades. This will be the 103rd meeting of the two teams from North Texas. With only two more scheduled meetings in this rivalry, and this being the last at Ford Field, this matchup means even more.

The rivalry between SMU and TCU dates back to the early 20th century. Both schools are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, making the competition particularly heated for local fans. The Iron Skillet, a cast-iron skillet weighing approximately 35 pounds, was introduced as the rivalry's trophy in 1946.

Coach Rhett Lashlee and his guys look to move to 3-1 on the season with a win over TCU. Both teams are entering the game coming off a loss, so it’s safe to assume that they are going to be dialed in and looking for a bounce-back game.

The showdown between TCU Horned Frogs and SMU Mustangs is shaping up to be a good one. Both squads have gotten points on the board this season, making this one a matchup you won't want to miss. Leading The Frogs is quarterback Josh Hoover, who's had a great beginning to his 2024 campaign. Averaging 37.7 points a game and ranking 21st in the nation, Hoover has thrown for 1,022 yards, eight touchdowns, and hasn't given up a single interception. His knack for making the right calls and spreading the ball around has been crucial for TCU's offensive success.

Meanwhile, SMU has been tearing it up on the ground thanks to Brashard Smith. The Miami transfer has been exceptional, racking up 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns with his mix of speed and power. And let's not forget about Kevin Jennings, SMU's quarterback, who's just as dangerous with his legs as he is with his arm. His ability to play a dual-threat game keeps defenses guessing and opens up the field for some highlight plays. We're in for a treat with both teams bringing their A-game offensively. Expect a high-scoring game packed with huge moments. This TCU vs. SMU matchup is going to be one for the books.

It's cliché to say, "Get your popcorn ready," but make sure you have something to snack on. This will be a great game on Saturday, and you won’t want to leave your seat. You have a high-powered passing team against a very dynamic running team. The Mustangs are ready for redemption following a hard-fought loss against BYU, so look for them to come out hot!
