David Moore high on SMU after visit, offer

Dual-threat quarterback David Moore visited SMU this past Saturday and left with more than just a scholarship offer. The impression from the Mustangs made quite a statement to the three-star recruit from Milton High School in Georgia.
"I had visited Texas A&M and Houston before then. My visit Saturday was kind of the finale to my spring break, and it was really good. [SMU] stood out and I loved it," Moore said.

Moore observed the Mustangs' spring practice and "liked the energy of the offense and how the coaches were with the team." The visit moved SMU to the top of the schools he is considering.
"They really knocked it out the park. I'd probably say they are my favorite right now," he said.
The class of 2016 quarterback has known SMU head coach Chad Morris and offensive coordinator Joe Craddock since they recruited him at Clemson. Moore said that Craddock was one of the first people to recruit him, even when Moore had zero offers. Moore thought he would get an offer from Clemson, but another quarterback committed to the Tigers instead. However, their relationship has only strengthened since the two coaches came to Dallas.
"Coach Craddock and I still stayed in contact the whole time. Then whenever they moved to SMU we started talking again even more... It was really good to see Coach Morris and Coach Craddock again," he said.
The 6-foot-2, 178-pound quarterback talked with the coaches about his role in the offense, and he was instantly sold on their pitch for him being a major contributor in many ways.
"They talked about using me the way they used [Clemson quarterback] Deshaun Watson with a few designed runs, but also doing damage through the air," Moore said. "That's what I want to do. The offense fits me perfectly. Everything seems like a good fit."
Moore noted his relationship with a coaching staff as one of the biggest things he wants in a football program, which he admitted is strongest with SMU. But Moore's relationships with SMU don't stop at the coaching staff. The Texas native knows a number of players on the team.
"I used to live in Texas, so I know a lot of people that are on the team like Ben Hicks...I know a lot of their 2015 class like Xavier [Castille] and Alex Honey. It was really good to see them again," Moore said.
Moore's other top schools include Wake Forest, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Houston, and Colorado State. His diverse skillset would be a valuable asset for any team.
"I have a huge arm. I can do damage in the pocket. That's what I would like to do, but if the play breaks down or it's a designed run then I can be explosive and make plays with my feet. The defense can never do one thing."
