SMU has enjoyed the leadership of quarterback Shane Buechele the last two seasons. Buechele is an Arlington, Texas, resident and a proud Lamar High School alum.

Buechele helped to open the eyes of offensive tackle Isaiah Robinson -- a Lamar 2023 product -- to SMU. Robinson has earned four offers so far, the latest coming from the Mustangs earlier this month.
