Dallas Skyline 2021 defensive back Isaiah Nwokobia is a rising name in recruiting. He's a 6-foot, 176-pound safety who is coming off his second consecutive unofficial visit to SMU.

Nwokobia made the short trip from his home to take in the SMU-Texas State game on Saturday. By the evening, he was offered by the Mustangs and extended his offer count to seven total.

"It's a great school that's very close to home," Nwokobia said of SMU. "It represents the city of Dallas, and I love that." Nwokobia likes the fact that he was offered by head coach Sonny Dykes. Nwokobia said Dykes told him he wanted to offer personally, which meant a lot to him knowing the head coach had him high in his thoughts.

What's best is that Nwokobia has built solid relationships with other members of the coaching staff, as well. He said he hears often from cornerbacks coach Kevin Curtis and assistant coach Ra'Shaad Samples -- a Skyline alum. "I talk to [Curtis] every day," Coach Samples as well," Nwokobia said. "They basically treat me like family."

Nwokobia now has offers from SMU, Houston, Colorado, Kansas and others. He said he hasn't given himself a timetable for a decision, as he has his mind set on being a major contributor for his team this season. Skyline is coming off its first win of the year last Friday and is preparing for district play following a bye this week.

"I'm just focusing on the season right now, so I know it will come sometime after the season," he said.
