The SMU Mustangs will take on the TCU Horned Frogs in the Iron Skillet on Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The Mustangs hope to redeem themselves from a 34-27 loss at Maryland last week. The Mustangs are projected to win by 10% over the TCU Horned Frogs.

This is a unique matchup for SMU, not only is the game a rivalry but the Mustangs will be facing a familiar face former head coach Sonny Dykes. The Battle for the Iron Skillet always highlights the connections between TCU and SMU's coaches and players.

Head coach Rhett Lashlee gave his opinion this past week on gaining the team from Dykes and the uniqueness of it all.

“Fortunately for us, most people stayed and want to play for SMU,” Lashlee said after practice.

All about TCU

TCU is 2-0 on the season with blowout victories over Colorado and Tarleton State. But the team will be missing a key player in this week's matchup against SMU, quarterback Chandler Morris will be out for the second consecutive game. The horned frogs have done surprisingly well without him so far with the help of the team's backup Max Duggan. The Horned Frogs have two other players who are questionable for Saturday which might play a big role in a possible win for the Mustangs.

Prediction

Tanner Mordecai has proven he has the arm and can smash defenses. Currently, he is third in total passing yards at 1,013 and fourth in passing touchdowns with 10 touchdown throws. TCU also isn't the best at defending the pass rush which will work out in SMU's favor. TCU does have a good running game which could help the team put up points but not enough to win the ballgame. SMU will more than likely win the game on Saturday.

TCU and SMU kick off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and will be televised on ESPNU
