SMU's Jankovich at AAC Media Day: 'For us, it's a new beginning'

SMU men's basketball coach Tim Jankovich has seen the ups and downs of his program. At the end of the 2016-17 season, the Mustangs were 30-5, and Jankovich was named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
Jankovich also took over an SMU program in 2016 dealing with a four-year penalization of scholarships following NCAA violations. The Mustangs were without nine scholarships stretched from 2015-18, and the team was hit hard with injuries the last two seasons.
With the start of the 2019-20 season, SMU is no longer on probation, and scholarship reduction is now a thing of the past. SMU is at full strength, and it is ready to return to the power it once was in the AAC.
