"My main reason was I still want to play with brother (Delontae). I'm close with the SMU players that are there already," Scott told the HillTopics. "It's a good fit, close to home and my grandma still wants me to go there. I had a chance to go to TCU but I didn't know if I wanted to go there because I wouldn't get the chance to play with my brother."
Scott originally committed to SMU in May but re-opened his recruitment after June Jones resigned.
"There were rumors of our scholarships not being honored by the new coach so I wanted to be sure that I still had options," Scott said.
Needless to say, Scott's twin brother Delontae, another 6-foot-5 outside linebacker, was excited by the news.
"He was ecstatic. He really wants to play with me," Scott said. "My grandma was happy; she's excited she doesn't have to buy no tickets for a plane or bus to go watch my games."
Another person excited by the news? Scott's future head coach, Chad Morris.
"I talked to coach Morris this morning. He was happy because he finally got me and my brother on board. He said that was their focus and they're going to try to build around us on defense."
The Mustangs coaching staff plans on using the twins as outside linebackers next season, Scott said.
The senior also has met some of the defensive coaches at SMU, including his future positional coach Archie McDaniel.
"I really liked him. He's young and he knows how to talk to us. He knows football and he gets down to business. I feel like we'll fit great. They want to use our length and size on the outside to cause issues for the other team."
Scott also met his new defensive coordinator, Van Malone.
"I think he was real cool. He came to meet us at the house and during the visit he talked about our academics and talking about the important things, he didn't waste our time talking about other stuff."
Scott is taking an official visit to SMU the same day as the rest of the 2015 class, on January 23rd. He said he is looking forward to meeting the whole coaching staff and the rest of the players.
