Over the long, holiday weekend, SMU was busy racking some wins on the recruiting front with a lot of verbal commitments - maybe none bigger than 4-star wideout Jordan Hudson committing to the Ponies over the likes of Texas, Alabama, Baylor and many, many more.

You can read Rivals' own Sam Spiegelman's report on Hudson here.

A little back story: Hudson verbally-committed to Oklahoma nearly a year ago. In mid-June, Hudson announced on Twitter he was de-committing from OU and exploring his options. He took a visit to SMU four days later after the extended dead period lifted and then announced over the weekend his intent to play for SMU.

It gives SMU seven commits for the 2022 recruiting cycle - we'll explore all the signings from the weekend later this week.

It was one of the biggest moves around the recruiting world over the weekend - a bonafide 4-star talent de-committing from a perennial Power 5 conference champion to a Group of 5 school.

As many noted, Hudson is the highest-ranked recruit in the school's history since recruiting ranking have been around.

With such big news, it's always interesting to see what "Recruiting Twitter" and "College Football Twitter" have to say about such signings.

The first comes from Sam Khan Jr. of The Athletic:

And my personal favorite, which definitely caught the eye of coach Rashaad Samples:

There are exciting times at SMU, and the program that has been built the last few years under Sonny Dykes and what they continue to build is certain proof of the message working.

Throw in NIL now, and you have a recipe to create a monster of program for years to come.
