Jordon Williams commits to SMU

2015 Jersey Village product Jordon Williams committed to SMU on Monday afternoon and he was clear about the main reason he decided to commit.
"The coaches, of course. It's a big family atmosphere, you can tell coaches get along with each other, they've all got ties to Texas," Williams told the HillTopics. "Coach (Archie) McDaniel talked to me about how I'll fit in on the defense. He sees me at what he calls the stars position. It's basically outside linebacker, covering, bring pressure off the edge."

Williams has not played outside linebacker since his sophomore year but is willing to give it a shot.
"I was kind of wanting to play DB in college football but it's wherever the coaches see me fit and wherever I can get playing time," Williams said.
Williams committed the day after he got back from his official visit to the Hilltop.
"It was real good, it was a really nice visit," Williams said. "I got to see the campus, get a feel for atmosphere, see the stadium that I'm going to be playing in and they've got some renovations coming that'll make it even nicer."
Another highlight was his visit to the SMU basketball game.
"The basketball game was probably the most fun I had all weekend. SMU basketball looks good, they beat up on Houston," Williams said about his hometown school.
Williams said his relationship with McDaniel was the big reason for his commitment.
"Coach McDaniel is really one of the reasons why I chose to commit to SMU. He gets along so well with the players and the recruits alike, I can't wait to play for him."
Williams also got a chance to meet head coach Chad Morris.
"Me and coach Morris talked a lot. He's a great guy, well-respected around Texas and I know he will put everything on the line for SMU to be successful both athletically and academically."
He also got a chance to bond with some of his future teammates and will start recruiting another potential one soon.
"They're great dudes, guys I'd hang out with at my high school. I'm ready to play with them. Delontae (Scott) and Xavier (Castille) and Zach (Abercrumbia) and I were hanging out a lot. Zach isn't committed yet but we'll work on him."
