The American Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 men's basketball schedule on Friday, which includes more than 140 games covered by way of national television. Look for SMU to get its first national television minutes of the season in December when a respected Big East opponent comes to town.

SMU will host Georgetown on Dec. 7 at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs beat the Hoyas, 81-73, in Washington, D.C., last December. This year's game will be televised on ESPNU, but a tipoff time has yet to be determined.

Sans will get a chance to see the Mustangs at home early and often in person. SMU will open the season with seven of its first nine games at Moody Coliseum through November and the early part of Decemeber.

The Mustangs will tip off the season with a Nov. 5 matchup against Jacksonville State. From there, SMU will host New Orleans on Nov. 12 and Jackson State on Nov. 16. New Orleans advanced to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament last season.

The following week, SMU will make its first road trips of the year. They will travel to Indiana to face Evansville on Nov. 18, then trek to Nevada to take on UNLV on Nov. 23.

SMU then returns home for a four-game home stretch. Arguably the highlight of the stretch will be the Dec. 7 matchup with Georgetown. The Mustangs will close December play by spending a few days in the Peach State. SMU will play at Georgia on Dec. 20 then face Georgia State on Dec. 23.

From there, the Mustangs will take holiday time off and return to the court for American Athletic Conference action Jan. 1 at home against USF.

After a nonconference matchup on the road against SEC school Vanderbilt -- now coached by former Dallas Maverick Jerry Stackhouse -- SMU will go into full swing of its conference schedule. The Mustangs will have January home games against UCF, Temple and East Carolina, then host Tulane, Houston and Memphis in February. SMU will host Wichita State on March 1.

The American Athletic Conference Tournament will run March 12-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. Click here for a full SMU men's basketball schedule.

The Mustangs finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-17 record. They lost to Cincinnati in the quarterfinal round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
