Prescott Line: Next Pony Up
Prescott Line was forced into last week's season and home opener against Texas Tech after Traylon Shead was injured on a horse collar tackle in the 3rd quarter. Line finished the game with 20 yards rushing on 6 attempts and a touchdown.Redshirt freshman running back
The Oxford, Michigan native informed us on what the Mustangs have been looking at in the film room earlier this week.
"We've watched a lot of film from the Tech game, Line told PonyPride. "We're analyzing the mental mistakes we made and seeing what we can improve on and just upgrading from there."
The 6-foot-, 233-pounder saw his first action as a Mustang last Friday night in front of a packed Ford Stadium on national television.
"I thought it was exciting. I always love a lot of fans coming out. It pumps all the football players up. It was awesome."
Line and the rest of the SMU football team are putting last week's 41-23 loss behind them as they begin preparing for Montana State to come to town on Saturday night.
"We actually started watching film on them (Montana State) yesterday. We're just trying to pick up schemes and formations they'll be lining up in. We'll be game planning the rest of the week. They like to do a lot of D-line stunts and we're working on recognizing them and where to pick up our blocks."
With two big road games coming up against TCU and Texas A&M, Line and the Mustangs aim to get back on track with a win.
"This week is very important for us. I just focus on one week at a time. We've got to win this and keep moving from there."
"We've got a good starting point and now we're where we can rocket off from. We're going to do great things from here on out."
Prescott's brother Zach Line was in attendance at this past weekend's game against Texas Tech. Zach, a Mustang legend, got to see his brother play his first collegiate game and get even more good news when he made the 53-man roster for the Minnesota Vikings this past weekend.
"I was nervous coming in. It's a lot of fun playing and was a great experience. Zach was actually at the game and we talked and he told me good job and congratulated me on my first touchdown. Just a brother supporting another brother."
Line will make his first career start this upcoming week as Traylon Shead has been ruled out due to injury and the young running back is up to the task.
"I'm excited. I wish Tray (Shead) was here though. It's always terrible for somebody to get hurt. I just have to be then next Pony up and support my team and do my job. It will be fun."
We'll have more exclusive player interviews throughout the season.
