June Jones' Mustangs have landed their first Class of 2009 commitment in Houston Strake Jesuit safety James Scott. Scott is a 6-2, 180-pounder. Scott has been a two-way player since his sophomore year and is expected to start at quarterback this fall. [details]

SMU lands point guard

Down to Kentucky, Virginia and SMU, Paul McCoy, a 5-11, 175-pound point guard out of Portland (Ore.) Grant H.S., shunned two power conference schools and will play his basketball for SMU in Conference USA.

Defense shines in scrimmage; offense will catch up
